Old world meets new world in San Miguel.
It was serendipitous when a lot became available in an area of downtown that hadn't been built on yet. The piece of land was surrounded by a gorgeous 500-year old stone wall and large wrought iron gate with a turret. At the same time, architect and famous Moroccan tile-designer, Lis Bigaard, was looking for her next project.
The goal was to create a large home that married modern design with historic architectural elements and artifacts. Some of the exposed beams and doors were purchased and retrieved from "the campo", which the countryside adjacent to San Miguel.
The end product was a 3 story house with 12-foot ceilings totaling 3000 square feet.
